The Last Three Months

Posted on July 2nd, 2008 by dchase

** WARNING! THIS POST HAS ABSOLUTELY NOTHING TO DO WITH BASEBALL (FANTASY OR OTHERWISE) **

Its been a while since I’ve updated B4B, or answered the regular emails I’ve received over the last three months.

When I started this site, I never thought my opinion about baseball would penetrate the web the way it did. It was exhilarating: I was being offered internships at established sports media outlets. Blogs, and other baseball sites I had been reading–for many years–were quoting my articles, and sharing them with their reader base. Message boards and newsgroups were continuing the discussions started here, and recommending this site on a regular basis. In a short two months BrockforBroglio.com had acquired over 15,000 back links, and thousands of visitors per day. Then, seemingly out of nowhere, it all stopped.

I’m a new Dad. My son Austin Chase (that picture over there) was born with a rare syndrome that causes eating, breathing, and hearing problems. He’s had 4 different surgeries and has spent a large majority of his short existence in the hospital. I went from pursuing my passion for all things baseball, to taking care of my infant with special needs. It’s not all doom and gloom, though. Austin has been doing great, and things at home have been slowly settling back to normal. He’s a great little guy, and I’m very fortunate to be his Father.

To those who have remained subscribed and have sent emails, thanks! I look forward to updating the site regularly again. As soon as I’m capable, I’ll continue to provide the same high quality content and advice you’ve come to love here at B4B!

Obviously, family takes top priority over anything baseball related. Besides, we’ll all be here waiting for you when you’re able to return. My prayers are with you and your family.

Its good to hear that you are coming back. Congrats on fatherhood. I hope that he continues to improve. I just became a father myself and I cant even begin to imagine how tough that must be for you. Anyway, he is absolutely adorable and I will be praying for his continued health. Thanks for all the great fantasy writing and advice.

I remember trying to get my blog off the ground and go back to work with a happy and healthy little baby over a year and a half ago. I wish your family luck with your little one, but it sounds like you’re already blessed with the love, optimism, and joy that will make your family everything you probably dreamed it would be when you and your partner were expecting.
