Tools:

1. Line Up Analysis Tool
Enter in a lineup, and see what the lineup’s average run production would look like.

I like to re-arrange team batting orders, and see which ones spit out the highest run totals.

2. StallValue System
Enter in your league settings, and get player dollar values based on your scoring format.

3. Baseball Monster
This player rater updates throughout the regular season. It’s like ESPN’s but offers more customization.

4. Pitch F/X (Read the primer first)
Take a look (pitch by pitch) at any given hurler. See what pitches are thrown, where they’re located, and how effective the various pitch types are.

Downloads:

5. 2001-2007 entire (individual season statistics) in XLS format
Make sure to have last season’s statistics open–during your live online draft–for quick reference.

6. 2008 Player Projections: Marcel | CHONE | ZiPS
Each system has its own strengths and weaknesses. Use all three player forecasts for better precision.

Resources:

7. 2007/2008 Team Transactions
Whose been designated for assignment, placed on the DL, signed, and/or extended?

8. Hit Tracker
This amazing website keeps track of HR distances using a comprehensive system that measures ballpark dimensions.

I left one out on accident, I’ll mention it here to get the comment bug rolling:

Here’s CBS’s best guess at what regular season batting orders are going to look like in 2008:

Fangraphs.com is great too for having not only marcel and chone projections, but also bill james on every player page.

Cory Schwartz put together a composite projection from 7 different pay and free projections at http://fantasy411.mlblogs.com/mlbcoms_fantasy_411/2008/02/composite_proje.html

Oh - not directly fantasy related, but feed43.com will turn any site with any sort of regular html structure into an rss feed. I used it last year to have a feed of my league’s’ adds and drops and to scrape fantasy news. A good understanding of html is necessary.

Ryan, you beat me to Cory’s composites. I Heart the 411. That feed43 sounds fabulous. I’m going to use that for sure.

This one isn’t exactly fantasy-related, but I love http://www.prosportsdaily.com. It pulls news, rumors, and columns from all regional news sources and sorts them by team.

Question on the stallvalues site: these dollar values are based on 2007 numbers. Is there a formula or some way I can generate dollar values based on my own 2008 projections? I’d love to take the composite projections Cory put together (after I tweak them a bit) and generate dollar values for each player based on a 12 team mixed 23man roster team. Any ideas?

    Glenn,
That tool is just an alternative to Baseball Monster, it uses season data to rank players fantasy performance as the season progresses. That was a great idea, I’d love to have a cheat sheet with those dollar values based on all of the projection systems.

I forgot to add another important one:
This resource displays players with multiply position eligibility going into the ‘08 season:

Ryan, that spreadsheet (a lone) is more valuable than anything listed on the page. Awesome link!

    Glenn,

RotoAuthority’s projections have many similarities to the “7 composite” sheet, and (5×5) dollar values are given. In fact, it looks like a very similar method was used (it looks like a meta analysis of all the projection systems available) none the less its a great resource:

You can get it for free here:

everyone should know about them but you have to atleast give a shout out to mock draft central. I read the 2k threads over at the roto junkie forums alot too . And i hate to say it, but im digging the ESPN spring training blog. http://sports.espn.go.com/espn/blog/index?name=spring_training
